Speaking to Channel 5 News in Brighton, Sir Keir said: “I talked to Angela, yes. I’m not going to disclose to you our private conversation, I talk to Angela several times a day.
“I talk to Angela all the time, we have different styles Angela and I. I wouldn’t have used the words that she used.”
At a conference event for Labour activists on Saturday night, the deputy leader had said of Tory Cabinet ministers: “We cannot get any worse than a bunch of scum, homophobic, racist, misogynistic, absolute vile, banana republic, vile, nasty, Etonian, piece of scum.”

She went on to claim that she had “held back a little.”
Ms Rayner has repeatedly refused to apologise.
Sir Keir has admitted sometimes having “huge disagreements” with his outspoken deputy.
He told Sky News: “Angela and I talk every day. Of course we have huge agreements and disagreements.
“Angela and I are working together with one central aim and that is to get the Labour party in a position to win an election.”
