Superbike champion Sean Emmett reportedly strangled his wife until she nearly passed out two years before she plunged to her death from a Dubai hotel, an inquest heard.
The ex-Grand Prix racer, 50, also allegedly threw knives and throttled 27-year-old Abbie Elson in unreported incidents two years before she plummeted 70ft on their honeymoon, police told the court.
Woking Coroner's Court heard Abbie told police at the time that she was "very frightened" of her husband's tendency to "flip out for no reason".
Detective Constable Caroline Snape told the hearing: “He strangled her to near-unconsciousness and broke her tooth.
"None of those incidents were reported at the time.”
Abbie got involved with the Surrey Police's domestic violence team after jumping in front of a moving car in January 2011.
She was deemed "high risk" because of the biker's history of violence with women and sectioned her under the Mental Health Act as officers feared for her safety if she returned to their home in New Haw.
She then told of her domestic abuse hell during their then seven-month relationship, it was said.
In July 2011, Emmett was questioned by police after Abbie’s ear was ripped during an alleged two-hour-long attack.

She withdrew her statement after he denied attacking her and told police she had a drinking problem.
But it wasn't long before police were called again to deal with their rows after they got back together.
DC Snape told the inquest Emmett monitored her calls to police and had smashed her phone on one occasion.

They were last called to their home five months before their wedding in South Africa.
DC Snape said she last spoke to police to ask "advice on how to leave her partner" shortly before their wedding in November 2012.
The officer added: “She seemed nervous and anxious to leave.”
The couple flew to Cape Town in January 2013 for a beach wedding, before travelling to Dubai for a two-night stopover on the way home.

During their first night in Dubai, Abbie fell to her death from the window of their suite in the Jumeirah Creekside hotel.
Emmett said she had dropped her wedding ring while smoking by the window and was leaning out to see if she could find it.
The biker was held on bail for 10 months after her death, but was eventually released without charge.
When he flew back to the UK in December 2013, he was arrested by Surrey police but cleared following a three-year investigation.
The inquest continues.
