Denver weather: Expect warm temps, mostly dry through the weekend

The Denver weather forecast calls for a couple of sunny days Thursday and Friday with the high temperature climbing to about 90 by the weekend.

On Thursday in Denver, winds will be light and the high temperature should top out at about 83 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. On Friday, winds will pick up a bit, gusting to 20 mph, as the high temp hits 90 degrees.

Scattered afternoon and evening thunderstorms are expected in the mountains starting Friday and continuing into next week. The isolated mountain storms will likely unleash lightning, small hail and winds gusting above 40 mph, according to the weather service.

There’s a 30% chance of afternoon showers and thunderstorms on Saturday in Denver, the weather service said. Skies will be partly sunny and the high temperature will again cap at about 90 degrees. Denver will see a slight chance of afternoon showers and thunderstorms on Sunday as the high temperature bumps up a notch to 91 degrees under mostly sunny skies.

The potential for critical fire weather conditions return Saturday and Sunday across parts of the southeastern plains, according to the weather service.
