A red flag warning is in effect from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. today for the Denver area and plains to the east, the National Weather Service said.
Meteorologists warn that high winds reaching 20 to 25 mph could gust up to 45 mph, combining with dry conditions to create dangerous weather for fires.
Friday’s high is expected to reach 66 degrees under mostly sunny skies, before falling to 40 degrees overnight.
Saturday is expected to be slightly warmer, with a high of 68 degrees in sunny and breezy conditions, before jumping to 72 degrees on Sunday.
Sunday may bring precipitation, with a 20% chance of rain coming after 1 p.m., the weather service said. The rain is expected to continue overnight and into Monday.
