Denver will have a couple more warm, breezy days before a a cold front Sunday brings rainy, possibly snowy, relief to the area.
The last day of the work week will be a warm 78-degree day, with some breezy winds reaching up to 18 mph. Elevated to critical fire conditions are possible Friday as humidity also drops, and winds in the mountains may even reach 60 mph.
Temperatures Friday night will get down to 45 degrees, then Saturday will rise to 77 degrees.
Winds Saturday will be stronger than Friday at times, with gusts reaching up to 24 mph. Saturday night has a low of 48 degrees.
Sunday during the day will start out mild with a high of 68 degrees, but the cold front will come in the afternoon.
There is a 40% chance of rain from 1 p.m. through 2 a.m., then, as the low drops down to 34 degrees, there will be a 40% chance of rains and snow showers after 2 a.m. through Monday morning.
“There could be a couple of precipitation bands that produce rain and snow showers across the plains that may result in the first measurable snowfall for a few areas,” forecasters at the National Weather Service said. “Any snow that sticks will stay below an inch and most areas will only see a trace.”
The mountains will see moderate snow between four inches to 10 inches.
Winds during and after the cold front could pose some threat, gusts possibly reaching 50 mph in some areas.
Even after the cold front blows through, next week will start cool with a 46-degree high and a 30-degree low on Monday, then a 58-degree high on Tuesday.
