Furious mum bit and punched woman after finding her in bed with ex-boyfriend

An angry mum fuelled by "jealousy" attacked a woman she found in bed with her ex-boyfriend.

Marie Wilkinson, 38, took her four-year-old son with her to confront her ex at his home in Hull early on December 19, 2020, Hull Live reported.

The man, who was in bed with another woman, answered the door as Wilkinson could be heard shouting "I know you've got that s*** in there" while banging on the door.

Wilkinson barged past her ex and spotted a handbag and a pair of shoes on her way to the bedroom, flying into a fit of rage when she saw another woman in bed.

Hull Crown Court heard Wilkinson pulled the woman by the hair, punched her and bit her, causing the woman to sustain injuries to the back of her head.

The woman was in such bad shape that she had to be taken to Hull Royal Infirmary where her injuries were glued, prosecutor Catherine Kioko-Gilligan told the court on Friday, April 30.

Ms Kioko-Gilligan said: "A scuffle involving them all then ensued. The woman sustained injuries to the rear and back of her head caused by the defendant pulling her hair.

"She had bruising and swelling and she had to be taken to Hull Royal Infirmary where her injuries were glued."

"She said she had seen the handbag and shoes in the hallway and went to the bedroom where she discovered her."

Wilkinson was arrested and subsequently interviewed by police who discovered she had gone to her ex's house as their son had wanted to see him.

Mitigating, Mark Savage told the court her ex's new relationship was "the straw that broke the camel's back" and the mum was sorry for the attack.

He said: "There is a letter of apology. That little boy has constantly sought to see his dad and this was an impromptu visit.

"She expresses remorse to this young woman. She can't control what she has done but she has to be a role model for her three children. She is not a young woman without a great deal of compassion for anybody."

Judge Ahmed Nadim handed Wilkinson a suspended 12-month sentence for two years, noting that the pair had a "difficult relationship" prior to the incident.

He said: "I have no difficulty in concluding that you had a difficult relationship with this man.

"You entered his home motivated by an emotion of jealousy. You knew that at the time you presented yourself at the address he was in the company of the complainant.

"You wanted your four-year-old son to see what his father was up to. Is it the remorse you are concerned about or the consequences that bother you?"
