Harry slammed as ‘pathetic’ over book title name that Diana ‘used to call him’

Prince Harry has been slammed as "pathetic" after naming his book something that Princess Diana used to call him.

A royal expert said that it shows the Duke of Sussex "hasn't moved on".

Yesterday (Thursday, October 27) it was announced that Harry's tell-all memoir, scheduled for worldwide release on January 10 next year, will be titled "Spare".

The book's website says Spare will be "raw" with "unflinching honesty" as Harry offers an "insight, revelation, self-examination, and hard-won wisdom about the eternal power of love over grief".

There have been reports that the Royal Family were not forewarned about the title, which is a reference to the term 'heir and the spare' describing the roles of the elder and younger children of a monarch.

Ingrid Seward, editor-in-chief of Majesty Magazine, reckons the title does not reflect well on Harry.

She told The Sun: "Being the ‘spare’ is still at the forefront of his mind all these years later and he clearly feels belittled by it.

"It is really a bit pathetic that he hasn’t managed to move on. Diana used to call him the spare. Harry would say ‘I’m the spare, I don’t have to behave, I can do what I like’."

Spare appears to be intrinsically linked to Diana, according to the description from publisher Penguin Random House.

It reads in part: "It was one of the most searing images of the twentieth century: two young boys, two princes, walking behind their mother’s coffin as the world watched in sorrow—and horror.

"As Diana, Princess of Wales, was laid to rest, billions wondered what the princes must be thinking and feeling—and how their lives would play out from that point on.

"For Harry, this is that story at last."

According to the Daily Mail, royal sources say The Firm is "dreading" Harry telling that story.
