Health Minister Nadine Dorries speaks out after being diagnosed with coronavirus

Health Minister Nadine Dorries has spoken out after she was diagnosed with the coronavirus.

It was confirmed earlier Dorries has COVID-19, becoming the first politician in the UK to have the virus.

Writing on her Twitter, the 62-year-old Member of Parliament for Mid Bedfordshire said: "Thanks for so many good wishes.

"It's been pretty rubbish but I hope I'm over the worst of it now.

"More worried about my 84-year-old mum who is staying with me and began with the cough today.

"She is being tested tomorrow. Keep safe and keep washing those hands, everyone."

Other politicians from different parties were quick to wish her the best.

Labour's Jess Phillips replied underneath: "Gosh I hope your mum is OK. Take care."

Another Labour MP, Wes Streeting, tweeted: "Take care of yourself and get well soon and best wishes to your mum."
