A worker who passed out after a heavy drinking session woke up to find the word “nonce” tattooed on his head.

Labourer Edward Murray, 34, had several beers during a visit to a house in Nassington, Northamptonshire, before passing out – and didn’t come to for another four or five hours, the Daily Mirror reports.

Edward only realised what had happened when he went upstairs and looked in the bathroom mirror.

He said: “I couldn’t understand why I had all this ink on me, on my hands, everywhere.

"That’s when I looked in the mirror in the bathroom and I could see my head.”

A set of male genitals were tattooed across Edward’s scalp, along with the word “nonce” in large capital letters.

He added: “I can’t read or write and I didn’t know what the word said.

"But when I came back downstairs, everyone broke out laughing and giggling and calling me ‘nonce’.

“They thought it was a big joke and they said they thought I had been asking for a tattoo.”

Edward said he thinks he may have asked for the name of his girlfriend Joanne to be tattooed on him, but had no idea what they were writing.

H eventually managed to get out of the property and get a taxi back to his home in Peterborough, where he contacted police.

Since the alleged attack, Edward has managed to cover up the tattoo on his head with a skull and crossbones.

Northamptonshire Police said they are “investigating an incident on September 2, 2020, which involved a man in his 30s being tattooed against his will”.

They added: “The extent of the damage caused by these tattoos is so severe it will require extensive surgery to repair, and we are committed to bringing the offenders to justice.

“Two men aged 32 and 28 have both been arrested on suspicion of GBH with intent in connection with the incident and are currently on police bail pending further enquiries.”
