Horror street brawl of ‘armed men’ sees four people hospitalised, six arrested

Police have arrested six people after an armed mass brawl in Greater Manchester left four men needing hospital treatment.

Those arrested, all male, were taken in after reports of a stabbing on Bromwich Street, Bolton, at around 10.40pm on Saturday night.

Greater Manchester police said its officers were called to the scene to be met by a large group of men fighting each other with weapons.

The four hospitalised men were between 30 and 45 years old, reports the Manchester Evening News.

Their condition is not described as life threatening and the details of their injuries have not been released, although there are unconfirmed reports one man was stabbed. Police confirmed the four men taken to hospital for treatment were among the six arrested

The men arrested by police are all aged between 22 and 45 and have been held on suspicion of violent disorder and section 18 assault.

Officers established two separate cordons at the scene as investigations continued.

A section of Bromwich Street was closed off, while a nearby park was also shut with police tape to stop people entering.

A GMP spokesperson said: "Police were called around 10.40pm on Saturday 29 May 2021 to a report of a stabbing on Bromwich Street, Bolton.

"Officers attended and enquiries established a large group of people, armed with weapons, had been involved in a fight.

"Four men, aged between 30 and 45, were taken to hospital with injuries that are not believed to life threatening. Six men, aged between 22 and 45, have been arrested on suspicion of violent disorder and section 18 assault."

Police have appealed for witnesses to come forward if they have any details about the disorder.
