Investigation into Hudson police shooting underway

A police shooting investigation is underway in northeastern Colorado and authorities are tight-lipped about the incident.

On Wednesday afternoon the Weld County Sheriff’s Office responded to exit 31 along Interstate 76 in Hudson on a police shooting, the sheriff’s office said in a news release.

An officer with the Hudson Police Department shot a suspect, the release said.

“The incident is under control and there is no safety risk to the public,” the sheriff’s office said. “Details are limited, and no further information will be released at this time.”

The sheriff’s office released no information on the condition of the suspect who was shot. No details on what led to the shooting were released, nor were details about the suspect, including their age or gender.

The 19th Judicial Critical Incident Response Team, the district attorney’s office and local police are investigating the shooting.

The Colorado Department of Transportation at 1:47 p.m. Wednesday tweeted that I-76 was closed in both directions at Colorado 52 in Hudson by a crash. Traffic in the area is being detoured and drivers should expect delays.
