A 71-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after the body of 70-year-old woman was found in a garden 15 months ago.
The woman's body was found in her back garden in Shelland Close, Market Harborough, Leicestershire, on Monday August 12, 2019.
Paramedics attended the scene but despite efforts to revive her, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
On Thursday, November 19, a man, aged 71, from Market Harborough was arrested on suspicion of the murder, Leicestershire Police confirmed, adding that he currently remains in police custody.
A police forensics team and a sniffer dog were seen at the house on Thursday, LeicestershireLive reports.
A Leicestershire Police spokesperson said: “Leicestershire Police have launched a murder investigation into the death of a woman in August 2019.
“The body of a female aged 70, was found in her back garden in Shelland Close, Market Harborough, on Monday 12 August 2019.
“Paramedics attended the scene but despite efforts to revive her, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
“Today a man, aged 71, from Market Harborough has been arrested on suspicion of the murder. He currently remains in police custody.”
Senior Investigating officer Detective Inspector Nicole Main said: “Specialist officers have been deployed to support the family at this time and we are currently not looking for anyone else in connection with the enquiry.”
