The new year is set to start with 10 guaranteed new millionaries in a special national lottery draw.
The lucky winners will be made in a New Year’s Day Euromillions draw, ensuring that 2021 gets off to a good start.
In total more than £4 billion was paid out in prizes across 2020.
Of the big winners, an astonishing 391 were worth £1M or more – at least a new millionaire made every day.
Each and every ticket sold helped to raise crucial funds.
This year saw £800M of National Lottery Good Cause money directly targeted at charities and organisations affected by the impact of the coronavirus outbreak.
Andy Carter, of The National Lottery, said: “This year has been one where the role of The National Lottery helping projects and communities all over the country has been even more crucial than usual.
“I am proud to be part of the team that helps each and every one of our big winners.
“But I am even prouder of the difference every player makes to the nation.
“Thanks to every single player and good luck in the special New Year’s Day draw. Let’s hope 2021 gets off to a better start for everyone.”
