Queen ‘uncomfortable’ with idea of divorce amid two royal splits in one week

The Queen is still “struggling” with the idea of divorce after two shock royal splits in just one week, a royal commentator has claimed.

Her Majesty’s year is going from bad to worse after two divorces were announced in recent days involving her grandson and nephew.

Last week Princess Anne’s son Peter Philips, 42, announced he and his wife Autumn, 41, were separating after 12 years of marriage.

Then just yesterday it was announced Princess Margate’s son David Linley, the Earl of Snowdon, 58, and wife Serena, 49 are splitting after 26 years of marriage.

The bombshell splits come amid a nightmare year for the Royal Family – from Prince Philip’s car crash to the Prince Andrew and Jeffrey Epstein crisis and Megxit.

But a royal commentator has said the Queen, despite three of her four children having divorced, will still be feeling “uncomfortable” about the idea of marriage separation.

Ingrid Seward, editor-in-chief of Majesty magazine, said Her Maj “struggles” so much with the idea of divorce that she tends to offer advice to couples are are struggling with marriage.

Ingrid told OK! magazine: “I think the Queen feels it’s all too easy to get divorced now.

“She used to say, ‘Just wait two years and see if you can make it work.’

“She will have urged Peter and Autumn to try again.”

Ingrid said the Queen will now be banking on the “strength” of Prince William and Kate Middleton’s marriage to remain upbeat about the latest string of events.

“She’s sad but she’s also quite pragmatic and she wouldn’t have survived this long if she wasn’t,” she said.

“Thankfully she has William and Kate. If she didn’t have them I think she might say to herself, ‘Goodness, after over 70 years on the throne, it’s come to nothing.’”

The breakdown of the Earl and Countess of Snowdon’s marriage has been blamed on David spending a lot of time away from home on business.
