A Russian soldier has been heard confessing the number of troops Russian forces have lost in their invasion of Ukraine in an intercepted phone call.

According to Kyiv, the intercepted call has a Russian soldier admitting that almost 26,000 troops have lost their lives during the Russian invasion of Ukraine, with the person on the phone saying they had "f***ed up".

The soldier, presumably speaking to a fellow military official, was intercepted by Ukraine's secret service and reportedly said: "Our boys have been f***ed up, f***ing f***ed".

The intercepted call was posted online by the Ukrainian secret service, who shared the call for all to hear.

The man is said to have continued: "The official tally is one thing, but I'll tell you now – 25,900 have died. That's in two f***ing months".

In another part of the intercepted call, another soldier talks about the gruesome death of a senior commander in the Russian military.

The man can be heard saying: "The commander of the brigade flew in. His intestines were scooped up and put back in his stomach. They sent him off on a chopper. They took him to Russia, and that's where his heart gave out."

Neither accounts from the intercepted soldiers can be accounted for, but Ukraine has claimed that 22,800 Russian soldiers have been killed since the start of the invasion.

Other tallies of data collected indicate the death of many high-ranking Russian officials, and while Russian officials have given sparse updates on combat fatalities, a suggested number of 317 officers dead in fighting has been reported by Daily Mail.

The extraordinary but unconfirmed number of officers lost in just two months of fighting could provide a heavy blow to invading Russian forces, with deliberate cover-ups of official death figures expected by the Kremlin.

With frequent delays to some reports of death, it is becoming frequently difficult to reveal the true figure of casualties for the Russian army.
