A teenage girl was shot dead while out celebrating her 15th birthday as her family still await answers over who killed her and why.
Maria Paula Castaneda Callejas, reportedly from a low income family, went to celebrate her birthday with her 21-year-old brother at a friend's gathering.
The siblings are said to have joined the get-together at about 5pm before Maria was allegedly gunned down by a woman who arrived hours after.
She was rushed to hospital in Tolima, Colombia, where she later died, Yahoo News reports.
One of her sisters, Luisa Fernanda Garzon, said the family are in the dark over who shot Maria.
Ms Fernanda Garzon said that due to the pandemic and other factors, the family did not have the resources to celebrate the girl's 15th birthday and that was why she had gone to another friend's party.

According to local reports, the family first learned of the shooting when Maria’s brother phoned home to ask their mother for her identity card so she could receive treatment.
He said she had been injured, but did not say she had been shot and said he was travelling with her to the hospital.
By the time the family arrived at the hospital the teenager had already died.
It is not clear whether the suspect and Maria knew each other prior to the alleged murder.
Detectives are now investigating, according to the Public Prosecutor’s Office.
No arrests have been made and enquirers are ongoing.
