There has allegedly been a rift between the Trumps after the US president drove around the center with members of the Secret Service while he was infected with COVID-19. The stunt outraged medical experts, including an attending physician at Walter Reed.

“Don Jr. thinks Trump is acting crazy,” one of the sources told Vanity Fair.

According to the sources, Donald Jr told friends that he tried lobbying Ivanka Trump, Eric Trump, and Jared Kushner to convince the president that he needs to stop acting unstable.

One source said: “Don Jr. has said he wants to stage an intervention, but Jared and Ivanka keep telling Trump how great he’s doing.”

However, Donald Jr is said to be reluctant to confront his father alone.

“Don said, ‘I’m not going to be the only one to tell him he’s acting crazy,’” the source added.

According to another source close to the family, the Trump children are united against the president’s explosive tweets fired out early Monday morning.

Mr Trump sent out more than a dozen all-caps tweets, prompting the the Trump children to tell people they want their father to stop.

“They’re all worried. They’ve tried to get him to stop tweeting,” the source said.

Mr Trump has been prescribed drugs that medical experts say can seriously impair his cognitive function.

Last night the New York Times reported that steroids, which Trump is reportedly taking, specifically dexamethasone, are known to “affect mood, causing euphoria or a general happiness.”

This comes after Mr Trump was spotted leaving the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, where he received treatment for COVID-19.

The President of the United States spent three nights in the centre after testing positive for coronavirus.

Mr Trump seemed in good spirits, announcing his discharge from the hospital in a tweet.

He wrote: “I will be leaving the great Walter Reed Medical Center today at 6:30 P.M.

“Feeling really good! Don’t be afraid of Covid. Don’t let it dominate your life.

“We have developed, under the Trump Administration, some really great drugs & knowledge.

“I feel better than I did 20 years ago!”

Footage of Mr Trump leaving the centre showed him wearing a face mask and walking towards reporters waiting at the end of the stairs.

One journalist was heard asking the President: “Do you think you might be a super-spreader, Mr President?”

Mr Trump was seen walking out of the medical centre at 6.38pm ET and signalling victory with his fist up in the air.

Twitter followers expressed relief at President Trump’s swift recovery, responding to his tweet with a stream of well-wishes.

One Twitter user wrote: “So glad you’re doing better.

“Thankful for the medical treatments and Drs.

“Also the power of prayer that has been pouring out for you. God’s warp speed!”
