Vanuatu hit by magnitude-6.8 earthquake – tsunami warning

An earthquake of magnitude 6.8 has occured near the coast of Port-Olry, Vanuatu. 

Authorities have issued a tsunami warning for nearby areas.

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said hazardous waves are possible for coasts within 300 km of the epicentre.

The US Geological Survey say the earthquake was at a depth of 91km (56 miles) and was triggered about 19km north-west of Port-Olry
