Westminster Bridge has been sealed off, as armed officers rush to a central London hospital over a "security alert".

Lambeth Police confirmed: "Police are dealing with a security alert at St Thomas’ Hospital, SE1. We will provide further info when known."

One eyewitness said "there’s armed police and what looked like a lockdown".

Another claimed that everyone is being “pushed back out to Westminster Bridge”.

They said officers are preventing anyone from entering the hospital.

The Daily Star has approached the Metropolitan Police for updates.
