Iran expert Dr Pupak Mohebali or Iran International TV, which is owned by Volant Media UK, warned of a military conflict between Iran and the US. WW3 fears would likely be sparked if the two nations engaged in a military skirmish. During an interview with Express.co.uk, Dr Mohebali insisted US President Joe Biden would only resort to military action against Iran as a last resort.

She noted Iran is unlikely to attack the US and its allies but added the country may want to enact revenge for moves by the US including the economic sanctions and killing of Iranian general Qasem Soleimani in 2020.

Dr Mohebali said: “Joe Biden is a very experienced politician.

“He knows Iran, he was the Vice President when the nuclear deal happened.

“He isn’t looking for any kind of military conflict but he would do it as a last resort.”

Ms Mohebali revealed what would have to happen to force Joe Biden’s hand into a military conflict with Iran.

She said: “Let’s say if Iran did anything that is a real danger or threat to the US or its allies.

“Maybe if Iran attacks Israel or any of the US’ bases or interests in the past.

“Iran has done that in the past but it has not been a major attack, none of them.”

She noted that she did not believe either nation favoured a military escalation and claimed the countries would prefer to solve their issues diplomatically.

Dr Mohebali continued: “I don’t think any of the countries, nor Iran or US, want such a conflict.

“First of all, if you want to compare Iran and US military capabilities, it is not even comparable.

“It seems like they are worlds apart and any attack by Iran or its proxies to challenge the US in the region would cause a major counter-strike from the US and its allies.

“Realistically, from a military point of view, Iran would lose such a battle.”

Iran’s continued desire for more nuclear material has also strained its relationship with the US.

Iran’s Supreme Leader on Wednesday called on the country to restart uranium enrichment despite its 2015 nuclear deal capping productions.

It follows a surge in Tehran and Washington tensions after US President Joe Biden ordered an airstrike on an Iran-backed militia in Syria.
