The Ukrainian President issued the mobilisation order less than 24 hours after Vladimir Putin’s soldiers launched their full-scale invasion of the country.

The decree will last for 90 days and demands all conscripts and reservists “ensure the needs” of Ukraine’s military.

Mr Zelenskyy also called on his compatriots to take up arms yesterday morning.

He said: “We are being attacked from the south, north, east and from the air.

“We are giving away weapons, and we will continue doing so to anyone who will ask for it in order to protect our sovereignty.

“Our future depends on each and every citizen.”

Ex-heavyweight champion boxer Vitali Klitschko, 50, even said he would take up arms.

Speaking to Good Morning Britain, the now Mayor of Kiev said: “I believe, I believe in Ukraine, I believe in my country and I believe in my people.”

He went on to claim he had “no other choice but to take up arms”.
